I can see it in your eyes,
Where will this cancer take me?
Will I die?
Is this all life has to offer me?
How can I tell my children?
I cannot really understand how it is for you,
But I see glimmers, stretching from your soul to mine,
Echoes in things from my past,
Life is so fragile and beautiful,
Yet God did not mean us to suffer like this,
He meant us to enjoy the beauty of the world,
The feel of the sun on our faces,
The bird song in the wind,
The kindness of strangers,
All you can do is take it each day as a gift
And not waste a moment.
